Atelier Touta. engages in creative activities based in Japan and Senegal, in an environment where cultures intersect.

In an environment where West African and European cultures intermingle, we give form to various creations, including fashion, products, experiences, and projects.

Continuity of activities

Since starting our activities in 2003, our expression and forms have changed, including upcycling, clothing production, cloth sanitary pads, and writing books.

However, we have consistently pursued our activities based on

"the continuous selection of essentials."

Currently, we operate across Japan and Africa, with Senegal as our primary production base.

The Idea of Tota (淘汰)

"touta" is not used in the sense of discarding unnecessary things, but rather

• circulation

• preserving the essence

This philosophy has remained unchanged since 2003 and forms the basis of all production and decisions at atelier touta.

TOUTA

TOUTA is the main clothing brand by designer YUGO.


It is strongly influenced by the attitudes of people in Senegal, whom the designer encountered, who enjoy dressing without being bound by age, body shape, gender, or status.


It aims to remove preconceptions about dressing, such as:
"I'm too old for that."
"My body type doesn't allow it."

The brand proposes clothing that honestly affirms feelings such as:

・I want to wear this
・This is fun
・This makes me happy
・This is beautiful
・This is cool

The brand primarily develops clothing that can be naturally worn continuously in daily life, including everyday wear, ready-to-wear, one-of-a-kind pieces, and custom orders.

YUKATA and TOUTA

YUKATA de TOUTA is a global expansion line designed to share TOUTA's philosophy and craftsmanship with the world.

Based on the structure of the Japanese yukata, it incorporates African colors, sensibilities, and rhythms,

reconstructing it as clothing suitable for everyday wear, resort wear, evening wear, and even dressing up.

We propose yukata not as traditional attire, but as clothing that can be freely enjoyed in modern life.

Atelier U

atelier U is a line that showcases designer YUGO's personal art pieces and artistic endeavors.

It focuses on creating works for exhibitions, art production, and experimental expressions, not driven by quantity or efficiency.

Separated from TOUTA, it serves as a platform to visualize YUGO's direct artistic expression.
